Hi Superstar,
Yesterday, I listened to a sermon that said Imagination is free, so never limit your imagination. This made me think of how little we have been imagining, thinking our imaginations are too expensive. Society has even made us believe that our dreams have expiration dates while in fact, they are infinite.
According to George Bernard Shaw,
Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine and at last you create what you will.
I see imaginations as predomination that something big is coming which is why no matter the few setbacks or how buoyant my dreams are, I will never stop imagining cause this world is a canvas to our imagination and we do not lie when we say we will succeed.
How to Score Interviews for Your Dream Remote Job
The best method to score interviews is by investing time to tailor your resume to fit the particular remote position you are applying for. Always remember that the purpose of a resume is not to land a job but to score interviews. Landing the job is dependent on how well you do at the interview, whether you are the right fit for the position and if you fit in the company’s culture. Here are guides to help you tailor your remote resume;
Be remote specific. It is important to make it known in your resume that you are seeking a remote opportunity. You can highlight this in your professional summary, where you show your intent for the position you are applying for.
Ensure you include the right contact information. It is customary to include your location, a workable email and a link to your online portfolio or LinkedIn profile because it helps to showcase the breadth and depth of your work experience.
Highlight your achievements and previous remote work experience. In showcasing your work experience, ensure you outline your remote positions and quantify your achievements for each position by giving real example with numbers, percentages, currencies and measure the difference you have made.
Showcase your remote skills and familiarity with communication/collaboration tools. Ensure to include skills section in your resume and highlight the special set of soft skills needed to excel remotely such as Time management, Asynchronous communication, Adaptability, Self-motivation and so on. Also, while including your technologies, mention a few remote working tools like Slack for communication, Trello/Asana for project management, Google Docs for file sharing, Google Meet/Zoom for video conferencing and G-suite for team collaboration. This shows that you are familiar with remote working and you can easily adapt working with distributed teams.

Musings
Last week was the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards , one of the most prestigious entertainment awards in South Korea and Kim Tae-ri won the Leading Actress in a TV show for her role as Na HeeDo in Twenty-Five Twenty One. The Drama is one of the best coming-of-age shows I have watched this quarter. Apart from its wonderful lessons on love and friendship, It taught me how much power we hold as individuals in achieving our goals and coming out of difficult situations. Each character had their battles and it was inspiring to see how they individually worked hard to achieve their dreams while navigating through lives as youths in an oppressive society.
I learnt that our dreams are ours and no one can take away our imaginations. Like Na Heedo, I want to live this year like I’m 18, too young to lose anything and to have anything taken away from me.
Lastly, even if life gets tough, we should never give up on the things we love. We should live our lives doing whatever we can, whether it be success or failure and remember that everyday can’t be a tragedy just because we lose everyday.
With Love,
Mary-Esther
