Hi Superstar,
The anthem for this month is Shoot your Shot. It’s the second half of the month, you should go for what you want, no matter how risky it seems. While most people only shoot their shot when it comes to their crush or secret lover, you can channel the same energy to your career.
Being professionally bold is a lot different than being socially bold. Here are some tips on how to shoot professional shots;
Do your research: Researching about your prospects/ leads before sending a mail or direct message is very important. Ensure, you have an adequate and accurate understanding of the opportunity that you are pursuing. This will help boost your confidence and show whomever you are communicating with that you truly are passionate about the opportunity.
Have your Elevator Pitch Ready: An Elevator pitch is a brief way of introducing yourself by hitting the main points and making a connection with someone. It’s called an elevator pitch because it takes almost the amount of time you would spend riding an elevator with someone. To craft an effective elevator pitch, you must know yourself. This is a lot deeper than knowing your name or what you do, it entails more on your purpose. So, when crafting your next elevator pitch, instead of asking yourself, “Who am I?” ask, “Why I am doing this?”.
Practice: Practice makes perfect. Just like having your account number stored comfortably in your head, have your elevator pitch memorized. Opportunities can come from anywhere, at the church, bakery, filling station or a social event. You need to have your elevator pitch memorized to allow you market yourself fluently. Moreover, the good thing about constant practice in cold pitching or emailing is that you get better than your previous interactions.
Don’t hold back: Shooting your shot requires you to get out of your comfort zone. This allows you to have new experiences and to engage in activities that you haven't before, all while opening you up to meet new people So, expand your options, because you never know who you could meet.
Follow Up: Your mails or messages can get lost in a spam. So, it’s important to always follow up. Also, most professionals have tight schedules, sending a follow up mail helps to remind them and shows your tenacity.

Relative
I keep pondering on that word, just like failure is relative; success is relative. They encompasses other things. Failure, just like success is a fluid concept. Its human and has different meanings to different people.
My success can be someone’s failure
And my failure can be someone’s success.
Everybody has their own idea of success/failure and what it means, which is totally fine. So why do we try to impose our idea of what success and failure is on someone else?
My younger brother called me out for this two weeks ago and ever since then I have been reflecting. We are all different, so it makes perfect sense that we all have different ideas and standards of success.
With Love,
Mary-Esther
