It's been a minute! I've been deeply immersed in launching my new venture, CareerswithMary. This has been a labor of love, a long time coming, and I’m beyond excited to finally share it with you.
Over the years, I’ve come to realize that sometimes, the most important question we can ask—especially in our careers—is, “How are you really doing?” This simple question can make a big difference in our well-being. Personally, my passion for career development began early. I started by realizing that I feel fulfilled when helping people craft resumés—a small step that eventually led to the birth of InclusivelyRemote. What began as just a means for fulfillment grew into a platform dedicated to breaking down traditional work barriers, connecting job seekers with meaningful remote opportunities, and helping organizations find top talent. At 23, I’m building not just one, but two businesses. And this wouldn’t have been possible if not for the careers I took on in the past.
Reflecting on my journey, I’ve learned that nothing is impossible. During my first week as an intern at Deloitte, a colleague invited me to lunch and shared a piece of advice that changed everything: “The best way to enjoy your internship and make people give you tasks is to be indispensable—make them need you.” That simple advice carried me through my internship to the point where partners often couldn’t distinguish me from full-time employees.
Later on, I discovered the power of storytelling through my experiences with job rejections. Many of you who have come to love InclusivelyRemote probably first connected with my stories of rejection. Those experiences—both the highs and the lows—have shaped who I am today.
