Here is to Women Who Show Up and Those Who Don't
Women-Friendly Remote Companies Currently Hiring, Sites Updates and Career Resources
Hi Superstar,
Belated Happy International Women’s Day! I know it's a few days overdue, but hey, it's Monday, and Monday is our day to shine. Women, you're truly amazing! While many acknowledge it, some might still need a reminder, and here I am, proudly declaring my support for women. My advocacy isn't just because I'm a woman myself; it's fueled by witnessing the incredible strength that women possess. Despite the sacrifices, women persist in building careers, navigating a system that often seeks to constrain them, and doing so while never losing their love for life.
🎊 So here's to the high-achieving women who believe in favor over excessive labor (Hi, besties).
🎊 Cheers to the women who adore sleep but still rise and conquer their daily tasks.
🎊 Here's to the unstoppable women who persist in pursuing their goals, never giving up.
🎊 A salute to the women transitioning careers, taking online courses, and finding that delicate balance in life.
🎊 Big kudos to the women who effortlessly juggle the roles of mothers, wives, and career builders. You rock!
🎊 A standing ovation for the phenomenal women who are students, managing 2-3 jobs, building communities, and launching startups. Yes, we are truly extraordinary!
🥂 Let's also raise a glass to the women reentering the workforce fueled by the dream that lives within them. Keep that fire burning, girl!
This is for us, women! May we never forget just how amazing we are. This past weekend, under the weather and managing operations for InclusivelyRemote amid recent updates, along with studying for exams, I felt the fatigue. If you would have noticed, this newsletter was meant to grace your inbox earlier but I'm just a girl. A girl with ambition but still a girl because menstrual cramps are an unavoidable reality.
Despite contemplating a break, a significant part of me thought about you. What if you were eagerly awaiting this week's newsletter? What if you were looking forward to the latest job updates on the site?
Those thoughts propelled me to show up.
And here I am, thinking about all the women who had to do the same—women who had to show up.
This week, I've realized that showing up isn't easy, yet, we show up.
I reflect on my younger days when my mom woke up at 4:30 am daily to prepare lunch boxes, get us ready for school, dress for work, drop us off, rush to her workplace, pick us up or get home early to prepare dinner, ensure we did our homework, and tuck us in. She did this tirelessly for over 10 years every weekday until we were old enough. Imagine every woman doing this and still creating a life and career for themselves.
So here is to us who show up and us who don’t show up, we are amazing! As we navigate the twists and turns of life, let's remember the strength we carry within, the resilience that defines us, and the beauty of supporting one another. Because in this journey called life, we're not just women facing Monday blues or dealing with menstrual cramps—we are superstars, embracing the challenges and turning them into triumphs.
Keep shining, keep smiling, and stay amazing, Superstars!
How to Provide a Women- Friendly Remote Culture
Creating a fair and inclusive work-from-home environment for women involves recognizing the unique challenges they face and implementing measures that empower and support them. Here are some key strategies to make remote work more equitable:
Flexible Working Hours: Introduce flexible working hour policies, such as compressed workweeks (e.g., 4/3.5/4.5 days), allowing employees to adapt their schedules to better suit their needs. This helps to provide the option for staggered start and end times to accommodate diverse time zones and personal preferences.
Parental Leave Policies: Establish robust inclusive parental leave policies that acknowledge and accommodate the needs of both mothers and fathers. This ensures that women can take the time they need for childbirth, bonding with a new child, or addressing family needs without compromising their career advancement.
Remote Work Support: Provide financial support for home office setup, including ergonomic furniture and necessary technology. Offer stipends or allowances to cover additional costs associated with remote work, such as increased utility bills
Professional Development Opportunities: Ensure that women have equal access to professional development opportunities, mentorship programs, and career advancement pathways. Promote a culture of inclusivity that encourages women to pursue leadership roles within the organization.
Equal Opportunities for Recognition: Implement inclusive recognition programs that celebrate achievements without bias. Ensure that remote-working women receive due recognition for their contributions to the team and organization
Joy Budget: Introduce a joy budget aimed at promoting employee well-being and happiness. This budget can be used for virtual team-building activities, wellness programs, and initiatives that contribute to a positive work culture. Shout out to MailerLite
Subsidized Child Care: Offer financial assistance or subsidies for remote workers to access quality childcare services. This can alleviate the burden on working mothers, allowing them to focus on their professional responsibilities with peace of mind.
Mental Health Resources: Recognize the importance of mental health and well-being. Implement initiatives that support the mental health of remote-working women, such as virtual counseling services, stress management programs, and a supportive company culture that values work-life balance.
Equal Pay: Regularly review and audit pay scales to identify and rectify gender pay gaps. Promote salary transparency within the organization.Ensure that remote-working women receive fair compensation for their skills and contributions.
Transparent Communication: Foster transparent communication channels that allow women to voice their concerns and share feedback on remote work policies. Regularly assess the effectiveness of these policies and make adjustments based on the evolving needs of the workforce.
